How to Become a Successful Real Estate Agent an educational platform for those of you who want to learn about the real estate market, how it works, and how to avoid pitfalls in your real estate career.

Most people think of real estate as buying and selling houses and properties, but it’s actually more subtle than that. So if you want to become a successful real estate agent, it helps if you have the right set of skills, and that’s exactly what this site is going to teach you here.

What Is Paname Ensemble?

You can call me Paname because that’s what my friends call me, and I want you to think of me as one of your friends. The name comes from Paname Ensemble, a musical band in France.

Paname ensemble band was truly an inspiration for me.

I used to live in Paris, and their music got me through several tough periods of my life. Later, I moved to Miami where I began my real estate career but my love for the band never really went away, which is why I named the site after them.

But you’re not here to learn about French music. You want advice on how to become a successful real estate agent, and that’s exactly what Paname Ensemble was designed for.

If you’re new to the real estate industry and you’re concerned about your chances at success, and how to stand out as a realtor, don’t worry. You’re not the only one. I once went through the same problems that you’re facing right now, and if I can overcome them then so can you.

I began my career at a local Miami real estate agency. Like all novices, I began by learning all the technical aspects of the job. I looked at the numbers, read the reports and studied the manuals, but they didn’t really help me all that much. I managed to sell a few houses and they allowed me to become a team player, but they never really helped me stand out.

Over time, I began to meet more successful realtors, and I began to notice new patterns. Successful real estate agents weren’t the smartest nor were they always the most charismatic. They did, however, have certain characteristics that they shared, and so I did what any rational person would do. I copied them.

What Makes a Real Estate Agent Succesful

1. Daily Habits

Behind every person’s success, there are always habits that helped reach their goals.

First, they had certain habits and behaviors. I couldn’t pin them down at first, but I definitely noticed them. For example, one realtor I knew was really good at maintaining his work calendar, and he was the kind of person who could manage a hundred different things effectively.

Other real estate agents had other special abilities. Some, for example, were quite good at multi-tasking, while others could identify people who were serious about buying or selling properties. They also made their work seem easy to ordinary people, as though anyone could do it.

Later, I found out that the reason why they made it seem so easy was because of their habits. They had a system that reached into almost every aspect of their daily lives. It was like they had put their careers on auto-pilot, and it was all very impressive.

Given what I knew, I tried to replicate some of these habits, and they did wonders for me and my own real estate career. And the best part was that I didn’t even need to invent anything from scratch. All I had to do was copy what the successful real estate agents were doing, and I managed to improve my own skills and abilities.

2. Market Research

As professionals real estate agents we need to know the market, it’s crucial that we study our market to be able to serve our clients with knowledge.

Next, I learned the importance of market research. Up until then I thought I knew everything that I had to know about real estate. As it turned out, I was wrong. I had to understand the real estate market on a local and personal level.

You can study all the numbers you want, but a good real estate agent also needs to understand his or her local market on an instinctual level.

It’s hard to explain but experienced realtors can usually tell if a particular area’s market value is going up or if it’s going down. It’s almost like an instinct that they have, and it’s a joy to watch.

Of course, this knowledge and instinct didn’t develop overnight. Most real estate agents developed their skills thanks to certain tools and research materials, and you can find plenty of those online.

I’ve personally used many of these tools, and they can make everything easier and more efficient. They helped me come up with estimates, find lucrative communities and they helped me to negotiate with all kinds of clients.

More importantly, they allowed me to develop my instinct for real estate transactions, and it’s done wonders for my career.

3. Social Connections

The success of a real estate agent depends 70% on your social circle. Developing skills to socialize it’s a must.

Thirdly, I learned the value of having a robust social network. I knew that real estate required a lot of connections, but I never really thought about the full scope and scale until I began interacting with some of my colleagues.

They made connections just for the sake of it, and some befriended people who weren’t even directly related to our line of work. They also had a long memory for names and dates.

Now, I personally don’t have their talents, but I knew that I should at least try to replicate some of what they were able to achieve. Making social connections was a step in the right direction for me.

Although most of my acquaintances couldn’t help me directly, they knew people who could and that’s what mattered. Over time, I began to develop my social network and it did wonders for my career.

I even maintained a series of chat line numbers to help me keep in touch with several contacts on a moment’s noticed, and it worked great. I was able to enhance my professional network while maintaining a large group of contacts.

They didn’t always lead to more sales, but they definitely made my work a lot easier, which is why I always advise inexperienced realtors and investors to work on their social skills.

4. Professional Connections

Being a real estate agent doesn’t mean you’re a 1-man team, you’re needing to create professional relationships with others related to your industry.

We’ve mentioned social connections, but some of the best realtors I met also had professional associates. They knew people in government, in the Miami Association of Realtors, and many others.

They also knew professionals who worked in other industries, such as insurance brokers, for example, and the best of them also knew the best public adjuster Miami had to offer.

Like their social connections, real estate agents leverage their professional associates to help them find potential clients and properties. They also occasionally ask them to expedite certain transactions, which can be a big deal in situations where time is a major factor.

This goes back to a point made earlier. Real estate is really about making connections, and those connections need to be diverse. Reaching out to professionals will not only allow you to diversify your contacts, but they can also assist you in ways you’ve never considered before.

5. Personal Advertising

As real estate agents, we need to be always promoting ourself: Business cards, car wraps, flyers, etc… everybody needs to know you.

Great real estate agents are also proficient at self-promotion. It sounds a little egocentric but it works. I began my own advertising campaign by creating a car wrap with my real estate name on it, and later I put up ads on local newspapers and magazines.

I also designed special business cards for people I met as well as a website (not Paname Ensemble) to promote my work.

But I didn’t stop there. I also reached out to clients directly, and I made it my priority to join groups and communities that could help improve my real estate career.

All in all, I got results. It took time and a little work but I got a lot of great results, which is why all fledgling realtors and real estate agents should always take the time to promote themselves to their clients and contacts.
